Diego and I just checked out of the Oceana Santa Monica Hotel and let me tell ya, it was quite the luxurious experience. It made us come to the conclusion that we need to do staycations more often. Being a tourist in your own town can be so exciting. This hotel has recently been remodeled so everything is new and fresh which I love. It just opened up back in July and is more of a chic boutique hotel with gorgeous ocean views from many of the bedrooms. Right when we checked in, we got to see the amenities and got directed to our oceanfront room! Thank you to Tyler who took great care of us and showed us everything the hotel has to offer! The amenities here are a fitness center, yoga and meditation guided classes, gorgeous pool are (love the tiling of the floors around it) and a restaurant with a Michelin star chef.

We first made a stop in the restaurant before our date night out and ordered a couple appetizers and a glass of white wine. Frankie was our server and he made the whole dining experience so special! He offered his recommendations which we took and were so pleased we did! We got the Illumination Sauvignon Blanc, prosciutto plate, and shrimp ceviche. Frankie also makes for great company. We loved chatting with him for a bit 🙂

The decor in the restaurant is very beach and unique. They have a bunch of really unique marble which really caught my eye. The aesthetic was top notch.

We ended the evening by going on a walk to dinner at Catch in Casa Del Mar to meet with Diego’s family. It is such an easy walk to the nightlife, restaurants and shops. Love the fact that you don’t have to uber anywhere when you are wanting to hang in this part of town.

The next morning we hit up the restaurant and had a delicious breakfast which included ricotta pancakes. Yep, went for it and no regrets. I highly recommend their juices as well. Diego got the green juice cleanse and I got the carrot lemon. Bomb.

We decided to use the hotel beach cruisers and cruise around The Promenade. I forgot to bring a bikini and there was no way I was missing out on this pool experience. So we just popped in Urban Outfitters and I got this cheetah kini! We ordered a cocktail and a beer for the pool and soaked up the hot sun which was heavenly. The vibe of the hotel is very calm and relaxing. The recipe for a perfect Sunday.

Oceana Santa Monica also mentioned that we could take the town car to see The Getty Villa. We have always wanted to go there so Diego and I took up the offer and ended the day with the gorgeous museum! What a beautiful stay. I saw that they will be opening up a rooftop terrace soon so as soon as that is ready, we’ll be back for another staycation!! Can’t wait:)
